Cancellations, Vacations, Auto Insurance and Mexican Girls

Spirits are high this sunny morning in our usually quiet household. My wife is busy doing last minute checks on things we might just forget. The kids are busy too; more on debating who¡¯s going to carry what rather than packing their own things. Well, I cannot blame them. We have waited long enough for this vacation. Finally, we were able to match our schedules and the day of barbeques and sunburn has finally come. We are headed to a month long vacation in a villa fronting the seashores of Maui.

Good thing a friend of mine advised me to give my insurer a call and cancel my collision coverage on my auto insurance. Prior to this, I have no idea that this is possible. I was even hesitant to talk to my insurer but my friend assured me that he has already done the same thing when he and his family stayed in Illinois for quite some time.

Another great thing about this option is that, application is as easy as 1, 2, and 3 and it is a sure way to lower my auto insurance quotes. All I had to do was notify my insurer about the cancelation and answer some questions. They asked me about the itinerary of our trip and if I could provide them with some proofs or documents. After I have submitted the required papers, my insurer assured me that my collision coverage was already cancelled for the next 30 days. My wife couldn¡¯t contain her happiness knowing that what we have saved from the car insurance will become a much needed addition to our vacation budget.

I couldn¡¯t thank my friend enough. Before heading to Maui, I also gave him a call and asked if he wanted anything from Maui. I laughed my heart out when he answered me; ¡°a voluptuous Mexican in a red hot bikini is fine.¡± But when I asked him if he¡¯s going to settle for a Chamois (for his car) instead, he simply banged the phone.
